The Kumar Family
If you’re all caught up on the blog, you remember Shrimi from last week’s post. When she reached out to me about updating portraits for her family this year, I was excited to work together again. When we did the first session for her business, I met her husband Pranit and her daughter Amaira during my time at her house. Although they did their best to stay out of the way of the headshot session, I noticed their sweet interactions together and was tempted to take some portraits of them too! When this session happened, I got my chance!
Once we agreed on a date, we chose the WRAL Azalea Gardens as the location for the session. I love shooting here because the gardens are well-maintained and provide a lot of beautiful areas to wander around during the session.
Amaira’s sweet smile and laugh was infectious. At just 6 years old, she did so well being photographed and loved the images in the end.
I loved these moments in black and white. During a session, I am always sure to get the camera-aware (smiling at the camera) images that everyone loves, but my favorite moments to capture are the ones in between. I think they tell the most about how a family interacts with each other.
I loved Amaira’s silly, playful relationship with her dad and her sweet relationship with her mom. I’m so glad we were able to capture moments with each of them separately.
What I love most about this session is that now their six year old will be able to look back on this chapter of their lives together and see images of herself, her mother, and her father. She liked the pictures once she saw them, but she’ll cherish them in the years to come. In order to display their favorite images, Shrimi selected our Italian leather image box in burgundy. This gorgeous box will sit in their living room on the side table, so that they can flip through the images whenever they’d like.
