5 Reasons to Love Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT COVID-19:
As a parent myself, I totally understand wanting to keep your little one safe. Please know that your photographer cares about your family’s safety too! I am doing everything I can to slow the spread while still serving my clients well. These days, that means I remain masked at all times. I wash my hands frequently and use sanitizer often while on-location. All sessions maintain social distancing (thank God for zoom lenses). During newborn sessions, I’ll direct and pose as normal, but only parents will handle the baby. If you have other questions or concerns on having a session at home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I want you to have all of the assurances that you need to feel comfortable. Also, know that I am working to keep my family safe, too! If either of us test positive, show symptoms, or come into contact with someone who tests positive, the session will be rescheduled without any additional fees.
1. No Need To Travel
You can’t beat the commute on a session at home. As your newborn photographer, I am happy to come to you. All you need to do is get ready and report to the living room! In-home sessions are great because you don’t have to worry about taking your newborn out in the cold or heat (even if it’s just to the car).
2. FAVORITE TOYS/SNACKS in REACH
If your newborn has older siblings who are still little themselves, it can be difficult to keep them entertained. I always advocate for giving your little ones a break, so it’s especially helpful when their favorite toys or snacks are in reach to keep them happy and occupied. I may ask Dad to pay with the siblings while I’m taking some shots of Mom and the newest addition alone.
3.EVERYONE IS MORE COMFORTABLE AT HOME
Being in front of the camera makes most people nervous, but there’s something about being in your own space that tends to set you at ease. This is especially true if your new addition has siblings. Small children can be overly shy or easily distracted when being photographed in a new space. Being in their own homes usually allows them to warm up more quickly when being photographed.
4.No Forgotten items
It happens all the time. You rush around to get everyone ready and packed up in the car, rush through traffic to head to your session, and as soon as you arrive, you realize your forgot something. Whether it’s extra diapers or the Baby’s First Christmas ornament, the little things are easy to forget, but in-home sessions mean that it becomes one less thing to worry about!
5.Your MemORIES aRe TRUE-TO-LIFE!
In my opinion, this is the best and most important reason to enjoy a newborn session at home. When you look back at this season of life, it means so much more to see these moments happening in your space: changing diapers in your nursery, snuggling up as a family in the master bedroom or living room sofa, humming a lullaby to your newborn as you sit in your rocker.
You may be in the nesting stage now. You’re working hard to make sure that the nursery gets done. You pick a color scheme, put furniture together, and make sure the space is ready for baby to come home. The backdrop of your home is the best one there is to tell the story of your family and what this chapter of your lives looked like.
