Welcoming Baby Judah

Jermel and Shirnetta received the cutest little gift just the day after Christmas. Judah Shelton Harrell was 7lbs, 3oz and 20.5 inches long when he made his entrance. Today, I get to share with you a newborn session that is close to my heart. My husband and I first met Jermel and Shirnetta shortly after we relocated to Raleigh. I was so excited to hear that they were going to be parents and that they wanted me to help capture this special time for them. Shirnetta’s main goal for this session was to have birth announcements made, but when I saw their nursery, I knew I had to capture these details, too.

Isn’t that the sweetest little nursery and the cutest little baby boy?! These first time parents really created the perfect room for their little boy. The custom name sign was created by talented local Lizzie Casey . The rocking chair was a family heirloom that added the perfect finishing touch. After that, we took their first family portraits together. It was so hard to choose favorites.

Jermel and Shirnetta, welcome to parenthood! Thank you so much for choosing me as your family photographer! I know these images will only mean more to you as time goes on — as Judah grows and is able to look back on these images, I hope he sees how happy you were to finally meet him and hold him in your arms. As a mom, I need to remind you to take in each day as it comes. Some are harder than others, but you will miss this time as the years begin to fade into each other. I know it sounds cliché, but cherish every moment. Lean on each other, and don’t forget that you’re a team. Above all, watch closely. He’s going to change before your very eyes.
