I love building relationships with my clients over time, and I truly enjoy watching families grow, whether we do yearly sessions or a session for every season. When I first met Nicole and Jayla, we were doing a last minute session for their Christmas cards. It was only last year, but Jayla has already gotten so big! Needless to say, I was looking forward to working with Little Miss Personality again 😉

I loved how these two were able to laugh and be silly together. They spent the afternoon dancing and making silly faces at one another. Jayla loved pointing out all of the dogs and bikes that we encountered during our walk in downtown Lynchburg.

Of course, we had to stop by the LOVE sign!

One thing I love about sessions like these is that I get to watch these little ones grow over time. What I don’t think many people realize is how much children learn from us. If you know Nicole, you know that she loves to laugh and encourages others. I can already tell that little Jayla is going to follow in her mommy’s footsteps, spreading love and laughter wherever she goes.

  • Aimee Custis - These two! So charming! I love the natural connections you capture between the two of them. They’re clearly comfortable in your presence to get those natural moments! Also, I ADORE that “love” sculpture.”ReplyCancel

Bryan and Amy’s time of engagement is almost up as they approach their wedding next month! So happy that we were able to sneak in one more engagement session with the turn of the season! These two share a love of vintage and coffee, so it was nice to be able to incorporate those elements into their session. I lovelovelove when couples choose the locations of their session based on locations which are important to them! Our session began at The White Hart Cafe, where Bryan and Amy spent many study dates. This was the perfect place for two creatives to spend some quality time.

It was beautiful to watch these two interact with each other.

We ended our session at Riverside Park, where Bryan and Amy had their first picnic! Amy was excited that we were able to use her bike as part of the shoot!

Bryan knows exactly what to say to make Amy smile.

As the photographer for this session, I loved watching the two of them laugh and snuggle with one another. I may be biased because I kind of love redheads, but I think that this couple takes the cake for cuteness. So excited for these two to be married on November 21! Congratulations to you both! It won’t be long now!

  • Shannon Graham - OMG, this shoot is so lovely! I love their beautiful red hair, too! They just look so comfortable and in love together – you really captured that! The shots of them on the deck with that red brick-work behind them is so nice – beautiful fall palette of colors in the shot!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica Green Photography - What a sweet photo session! I love it so much!! You did an amazing job!ReplyCancel

  • Lillian - This is a great shoot, My! The couple looks beautiful.

P.S., I told you on the phone you use morphological reduplication (“lovelovelove”)!ReplyCancel

I first met RJ and Mary through a mutual friend. I was assisting my photographer friend Noel in photographing their gender reveal! Their gender reveal last fall was one of the very first shoots I had ever done. After Noel relocated, Mary reached out to me to photograph her maternity session and then their newborn session. It’s crazy how time flies! Look at them now!

Look at those eyes and little curls!

You guys killed it! 😉 Such a beautiful family. Thank you for letting me spend some time with you last weekend!

I met Joy during my time in undergrad, but for the life of me, I can’t remember how we actually met. I guess she’s just the type of person that you feel like you’ve known forever. She’s a fellow Jersey girl, so we would take long car rides during school breaks to go back home. Even if we got caught up in the busyness of a semester, we would catch up on our trips home. If you know Joy, you know that she is easy to talk to, genuinely cares about the opinions of others, and has a heart for teaching. These are some of the reasons why I was happy to see that Joy met someone who genuinely cares for her. Don’t we all need that?

Now just to clear the air, these two are not engaged. I know this is how rumors get started. 😉 But it was still a beautiful thing to see the two of them laugh together and communicate with one another. I had initially scheduled the shoot with Joy before I even met Brian, but I am so happy that we were able to include Brian too!

Brian is a history buff and a native of Virginia. As we moved along in the shoot, he shared historical facts about the buildings and the city.

One thing you should also know is that she loves color. I’ve photographed Joy a couple of times before, so when we first discussed her session, I couldn’t wait to see what she would choose to wear. I think she and Brian killed it. 😉

Thanks again, you two for sharing your laughter and love with me!

So I wanted to try something a little different this time around. Oh, Hannah? She was a natural!

But there’s far more than her pretty smile that makes Hannah beautiful. She is kind, compassionate, and creative. Her heart for the Lord and eagerness to serve others are truly inspiring. She and her husband serve their local church as youth leaders. I don’t want to get too far into their story together, because I will have the absolute privilege of shooting a maternity session with them soon. That’s right! At the time of this shoot, Hannah was 17 weeks pregnant. Since this wasn’t the maternity shoot, we didn’t want to emphasize her little bump, but stay tuned for that session to come! In the meantime, check out a few from her sunset session:
