Things have been a little quiet over here on the blog lately, but so much has been going on these past few months. There are quite a few updates I should share with you. I wanted to post an update now because this is the month where our lives are about to take another drastic turn. First things first:

Brandon finished his degree!

After five long years of toiling away, my husband graduated with a Master of Divinity in Theological Studies. I couldn’t be more proud. His educational journey isn’t over yet. Ultimately, he wants to become a professor at the collegiate level…which means he needs another degree. He was accepted into Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary this fall, which leads me to my next update…

We became North Carolinians!

A lot of people may feel like we just decided to sneak out of Lynchburg unannounced. Technically, there was no big announcement, but as some of you may know, we started talking about moving to Raleigh in the beginning of 2015. We spent that year saving up for a down payment on what we hoped would be our first home. Unfortunately, the homeowner dream was placed on hold, but we ended up securing an apartment in the perfect neighborhood for us. We feel like we’re exactly where we need to be.

We found a new home church!

We started attending Vision Church back in April and made a commitment to become members in May of this year. God has used this church already to surround us with a support system to help us through this transition. The outpouring of love in this church community has been unmatched and we have loved getting to know new people each week. We became involved in one of the small groups in the church and are excited for the chance to do life with these people.

We’re expecting!

The biggest news of all of course is that I’m pregnant. We didn’t actually go public with this news until my birthday back in April. Later this week, you’ll get to see some of my favorite shots from the maternity session done by Christi Joy Photography. Stay tuned! 😉

  • Lillllllllian - Ooh small groups are great, I’m glad you guys are so happy about your church fam!ReplyCancel

From what I’ve heard, pregnancy is never easy. Although the this mama-to-be has handled this time with so much grace, I know that Michaela is ready to see her sweet little girl’s face.

Marshall and Michaela met years ago, while working in retail. Their friendship and relationship has grown over the years and they were married two years ago in a small ceremony surrounded by their loved ones.

It was beautiful to see the dynamic they have during our session. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this much during a session before!

STRUBLE-8

Until now, their home has consisted of just the two of them (and their dogs), but this year, they learned that they’ll be welcoming a baby girl into their family. With only a couple of weeks left before the newest little Nishimura is born, I was excited to capture this time in their lives. Addison Claire, we are so excited to meet you!

It’s easy for us to go from one day to the next, thinking that we lead ordinary lives. In reality, you never really know who is watching. Shawn and Meg and their seven children tend to stand out in a crowd. What stood out to me the most about this family was how they love one another. The older siblings were so helpful in watching over their younger siblings. It was amazing to see them work together as a team.

I have always appreciated Shawn and Meg’s  transparency. What you may not know about me is that I have always wanted a big family. These two invited me into their home and answered my questions about what it’s like to manage a big family. One of my favorite parts of that day was watching all the littles interacting with Shawn. It was amusing to watch them climb up on him and dangle from his arms and wrap themselves around his legs. These little ones love their daddy. 🙂

Meg’s only request was to have images with her little ones. I love it! They’re only this little for so long.

STRUBLE-7

There are few things more beautiful than these seven little faces.

Oh and these two, still in love.

  • Lillian - WOW I’ve missed so much lately! This is a beautiful shoot, and the family looks greatReplyCancel

Time always flies a little more quickly than we anticipate. Kevin and Brittany’s little guy Clark is already a year and a half, so it was definitely time to capture some photos of their family together this fall! We met at Morris Orchard on a Sunday afternoon, and can I tell you how much I love this little family?! Kevin and Brittany were easy going and so much fun!

Clark was perfectly content waving sticks around and playing in the dirt. Yep, he’s all boy!

But I also found out that he loves playing with his dad

…and snuggling with his mom.

STRUBLE-6

It was so cute to watch his little face light up! Kevin and Brittany, thank you so much for letting me spend the afternoon with you. It was my privilege to work with you! 😉

  • Carrie Mae - I love the one with the baby snuggling with his mother! Those smiles are pricelessReplyCancel

Mothers who want to preserve memories are totally my jam. This little family is celebrating two milestones at this point in their lives. Little Abigail is turning two soon and they just moved into a new house. A morning photo session in the park was a perfect chance to commemorate the blessings of 2015 and take in all of the beautiful colors of fall while they’re still here!

I mean, look at her little dimples and those big blue eyes!

And the lashes? Abigail, you are a DOLL!

BOWMAN-7

She even brought a friend along. Anyone remember Curious George? They shared a few laughs 😉

BOWMAN-10

But I’ll be honest. Daddy-daughter moments just melt my heart.

Their faithfulness to God during this time of transition is definitely an encouragement in my own walk. Praying for your beautiful family, Karen. It was such a pleasure to get to know each of you a little better.

  • Carrie Mae - What a beautiful little girl! She’s so photogenic 🙂 P.s., I am loving the composition of these photographs, My!!ReplyCancel
